Design in motion

Late December saw IBM launching a few enterprise app built on the iOS, a result of our Apple-IBM partnership, and the news was abuzz by how minimalistic and great those designs were. Even John Gruber, who is known as an Apple evangelist, said the following:

These don’t look like “enterprise” apps. They look like regular apps — really good ones, the sort of apps Apple would choose to feature in the App Store. This was a huge question I had about this deal. Great design is fundamental to what sets iOS apart, and what has enabled iOS to lead the post-PC disruption of the entire consumer computing industry. Would great UI design play a part in this IBM/Apple enterprise endeavor? Looks to me like the answer is yes.

What many may not know is that IBM set up a design lab to focus on the UI/UX of enterprise mobile app design.

Check it out the website dedicated to this : ibm.com/design/

And I am putting screen shot of the website here. THIS IS THE NEW IBM :D
Seriously cool stuff!

Apple-IBM enterprise apps released!

Wow, take a look at this blog by the legendary John Gruber:

" These don’t look like “enterprise” apps. They look like regular apps — really good ones, the sort of apps Apple would choose to feature in the App Store. One of the key initiatives of the IBM-Apple partnership is that Apple engineers will bring their legendary UI/UX design leadership to help IBM move one hundred enterprise apps into the iOS platform. That means, the new IBM apps on iOS platform will not only feature enterprise grade functionalities but it will also have Apple-grade user interface and experience! These are seriously great future to look forward to!

Elephant Can Dance Again

So, you have all read about IBM's Q3 result. There were many criticism and naysayers condemning the start of the fall of a great American icon. As our CEO, Ginni, said in her employee broadcast right after the result was out (not an exact quote): "make no mistake, we are a profitable business. Some $6B in net profit as well as lots of money in the bank" - so, don't believe what you read, really.

The Elephant Can Dance, Again! This is a company that continue to reinvent itself. It has been proven again and again, look at our past history. Who would have thought that the cool kid on the block (Apple) would even wanna play with the 'supposedly' old geezer? But they do! And the future of the partnership is very exciting for both parties. That means we are not that old.

So, yeah... Transformers, rolllllll outttttt!
